Why Minneapolis Made Macy's Top Hiring List

Macy's, Inc. laid out its season in a holiday hiring announcement. It is filling part-time seasonal jobs in its stores, plus full- and part-time roles at select supply chain sites, with in-person hiring days on September 24, October 22 and November 19. Event times vary by store.

The company named 10 markets where its Macy's stores expect greater hiring opportunities this year, and Minneapolis is one of them, alongside Chicago, Boston, Seattle and Phoenix. Still, Macy's has not published a Twin Cities headcount, so treat October 22 as a strong shot at a holiday job rather than a promised offer.

There's no single published pay rate. Every Macy's posting lists its own pay range, so read it before you apply. Listed perks include a colleague discount, a 401(k), eligibility-based medical, dental and vision coverage, and access to earned wages before payday.

Downtown lost its Macy's when the old Dayton's flagship on Nicollet Mall closed in 2017, so all four hiring-day stores sit in the suburbs. Macy's store directory lists six Minnesota locations; these are the four full-line Twin Cities stores.

Mall of America. Off I-494 in Bloomington and on the Blue Line. The easy pick for south Minneapolis, Richfield and transit riders.

Southdale. At France Avenue and 66th Street in Edina. Handy for southwest Minneapolis, Bloomington's west side and Eden Prairie.

Ridgedale. Along I-394 in Minnetonka. The west-metro choice for Wayzata, Plymouth, Hopkins and St. Louis Park.

Rosedale. At Highway 36 and Fairview Avenue in Roseville. The St. Paul side of the river, plus New Brighton, Shoreview and Falcon Heights. Macy's also runs a separate furniture gallery near Rosedale; call ahead if you want to know whether it takes walk-ins that day.
