BLOOMINGTON, MN — Six employers are setting up inside the Oxboro Library on Monday, October 5 for a free two-hour career fair run by Hennepin County's workforce team and CareerForce. The list runs from a wastewater utility to an eyewear brand, and the roles on offer range from machine operators and welders to nursing assistants and opticians. It is open to anyone, and walk-ins are welcome.

🔥 Who Is Recruiting at the Bloomington Career Fair

Hennepin County's Department of Workforce Development has published the employer list on the CareerForce event listing, and it is a wider mix than most library fairs pull:

Atlas Staffing, a staffing agency, which usually means the quickest path to a paycheck in warehouse and production work.
Metropolitan Council Environmental Services, the regional agency that runs the metro's wastewater treatment plants. Public-sector work with public-sector benefits.

Across the six tables, the organizer lists machine operators, warehouse workers, nursing assistants, engineers, opticians, welders, painters, sales advisors and administrative staff. That is a rare spread for a two-hour event: a welder and an office administrator can walk in the same door and both leave with a conversation worth having.

📍 Getting to Oxboro

The Oxboro branch sits on Portland Avenue just south of I-494 in east Bloomington, a short hop from the Richfield line. The fair runs only from 10:00 to noon, so plan to arrive early rather than squeezing it in at 11:45, when recruiters are already packing up.

CareerForce in Minneapolis North is holding a drop-in Job Fair/Hiring Event on Thursday, October 8 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 800 West Broadway Avenue, Minneapolis. Recruiters from multiple employers will be there. CareerForce has not published the employer list, so call 612-299-7200 to ask who is coming before you make the trip.

💵 Which Side of the Wage Line?

Bloomington follows the Minnesota state minimum of $11.41 an hour, while work performed inside Minneapolis carries a $16.37 floor. Several of these employers hire across the metro, and the address where the work is done sets the legal minimum, not where you live or where you met the recruiter. In practice, starting pay for production, health care support and optical roles in this market runs well above either number, so ask each table for its actual range.
