What's Happening on West Broadway Thursday

The day runs in two parts. The morning opens at 9 a.m. with a job club, run by Job Service staff, offering advice and referrals. CareerForce's Manufacturing Month calendar pairs that session with an employer panel, so expect to hear straight from the people doing the hiring before you ever shake a hand.

At 11 a.m. the hiring event itself opens, with recruiters from multiple employers on the floor until 3 p.m. No appointment is needed. Come early, come late, come on your lunch break.

One honest caveat: CareerForce has not published the list of participating employers. It says to call the sponsoring location for that, and the Minneapolis North office is at 612-299-7200. Knowing who will be in the room tells you which resume to print.

🔥 Why Manufacturing, and Why the North Side

Manufacturing is one of the steadiest employers in the Twin Cities, and many of its entry points don't ask for a degree. Production, assembly and packaging roles typically train on the job, and the skilled paths, from machinist and welder to maintenance technician, can be built from there.

Holding the event at the West Broadway office puts it inside the neighborhood, not out at a suburban industrial park. For anyone in Hawthorne, Jordan or Folwell, it's the rare hiring event you can reach without crossing the river.

📅 Can't Make Thursday? Two More Dates

Different event, different day, different setup:

  • Wednesday, October 14, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: another multi-employer hiring event in the same building at 800 West Broadway. It's a general job fair, not manufacturing specific.
  • Wednesday, October 21, 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM: a manufacturing Employer of the Day panel followed by a hiring event at CareerForce in Blaine, 1201 89th Ave NE. It appears on the state's Manufacturing Month list but not yet on the Blaine office's own calendar, so confirm before you go at 763-324-2300.

📋 How to Show Up Ready

  • Several printed resumes, one page each. Put any equipment you've run, from forklifts to CNC machines, near the top.
  • A photo ID and the dates and supervisor names for your last three jobs.
  • Copies of any certifications you hold, such as a forklift card or OSHA 10.
  • Questions about shifts. Second and third shift often carry a pay differential in manufacturing, so ask what it is.
